Networking for women who hate “networking”

Good networking feels less like collecting contacts and more like building useful, human relationships.

There is more of you waiting to rise.

Start with curiosity

You do not need a polished pitch for every room. Ask thoughtful questions. Learn what another person is building, solving or looking for. Curiosity creates more natural conversations than trying to impress everyone.

Make your own work easy to understand

Have a simple way to explain what you do, what you are exploring and what kind of opportunities or people you would like to meet. Clarity helps others remember you and make useful introductions.

Give before you ask

Share a resource. Make an introduction. Recommend someone. Offer feedback. Celebrate another woman’s work. Communities become powerful when help moves in more than one direction.

Follow up while the conversation is warm

A short message within a day or two is enough: remind them where you met, mention what you appreciated, and continue the specific thread you discussed. Relationships are built in the follow-up, not only at the event.

Let your network compound

The most valuable networks are built over time. Stay in touch without always needing something. As your career changes, your relationships become a source of perspective, collaboration, referrals and support.
